Three Blind Artists Inks Distribution Deal For Shelter

08-15-2008

Two years after starting production on Shelter, 3BA has entered into a distribution contract with Echelon Studios and the film will finally be available to the public through various outlets such as Netflix and Amazon beginning on October 28th.

The long and arduous process that was the journey of making Shelter is now documented in the "behind the scenes" film Trapped in the Shelter. The 30 minute documentary demonstrates the perseverance it took to complete the project and get it distributed on the part of the cast and crew. It will be one of the bonus features on the DVD and is available in segments right now on websites such as MySpace, MovieSet, Crackle, Veoh, and YouTube.

Three Blind Artists Cultivates Web Presence

"3BA feels that utilizing sites like MySpace, YouTube, IPEX View, Crackle, Funny Or Die (for comedy) is a total no-brainer" Chris Elston was recently quoted as saying in an interview with IPEX View. "It's free marketing. Any way to get the word out there."

True to his word, Elston has recently added MovieSet to the list of sites he is using to promote 3BA's projects. Not only is this push getting the word out there for Shelter, for which 3BA is currently wrapping up the audio enhancement portion of post-production and actively seeking distribution, and In a Parallel Universe (IAPU) currently in production, but with sites like IPEX View and MovieSet, it is the launch of campaigning for the projects 3BA has in development as well.

Buzz began to heat up with the listing of IAPU in both Variety and the Hollywood Reporter as well as the press release 3BA put out in January and continues to get hotter as the web presence grows.

Three Blind Artists Looks Ahead To A Bright Future

12-08-2007

Thanks to great efforts from Consultant Alan Cassman, Shelter is closing in on distribution, which provides Three Blind Artists Entertainment Group the opportunity to begin looking ahead to future projects. The company is moving forward with plans for two separate slates of projects. Slate I is three feature-length films in the $1.5 - 2M range and Slate II is three feature-length films in the $5 - 10M range coupled with two television pilots.

Up next? Hot off of back-to-back feature writing gigs, both for Sandstone Pictures, Chris Elston is taking the company into pre-production on his sophomore feature directorial effort In A Parallel Universe. The drama starts with a serendipitous meeting between two relative strangers which leads them to abandon a life-time of hardships in a quest for what they think life could have been like had they been born into different circumstances.

Shelter Complete, Looks Ahead To Distribution

10-15-2007

Three Blind Artists' post-production team put the final touches on Shelter last week and have a lot to look forward to. With film festival submissions on the horizon and a number of major distributors already requesting screeners, the light at the end of the tunnel continues to brighten.

"The buzz is getting stronger as we release little clips on the web. It's exciting to see that people are not only enjoying the hard work we've done, but clearly want more" says Writer/Director Chris Elston, referring to the clips the team has uploaded to sites like MySpace, YouTube, and Crackle. The theatrical trailer and two of the clips have now won Editor's Choice Awards and one of the clips, as of this press release, is currently listed among the 25 highest rated clips on Crackle's Screen Bites channel, joining the ranks of clips from films like Spider-Man, A Few Good Men, In the Pursuit of Happyness,Jerry Maguire, Taxi Driver, Snatch, Stand by Me, and Men In Black.

Elston concludes, "I've had the concept for this film for over a decade. I finished writing it two years ago. We started shooting it over 15 months ago. A lot of people have worked very hard for a very long time to overcome some major obstacles. Now, after finally getting it out there, to see people respond so positively is not only rewarding but, it's also vindication."

Shelter Wraps Principal Photography

09-01-2006

After three days on location in Big Bear Lake, California, and fifteen days on a sound stage at Cheyenne Studios in Castaic, California, Three Blind Artists' first foray into the feature film market, the inventive drama Shelter, has officially completed principal photography and moved into post-production on a full-time basis.

Producer/Cinematographer Casey Brooks will also serve as Post-Production Supervisor while Producer/Writer/Director Chris Elston and Co-Producer/First Assistant Director Robert Perez serve as Editors and Co-Producer/Cinematographer Juan Santos serves as Post-Effects Supervisor.

"We'll have a rough cut done in time for the Sundance deadline at the end of September" says Brooks. "And the film will be complete before AFM (The American Film Market) in November."

Three Blind Artists Entertainment Group's first feature-length film, a drama called Shelter, is officially half-way through principal photography. The intrinsically ground-breaking film happens in real-time, takes place primarily inside of a bomb shelter, and features a single scene that lasts over seventy minutes.

The film is a hybrid of formats, being shot on Sony's HDV camera, the HVR-Z1U, but also using the P+S Technik adapter to apply 35mm film lenses. "The footage is stunning", said Producer/Writer/Director Chris Elston. "My cinematographers [Casey Brooks and Juan Santos] have given me exactly what I was looking for. The movie has the popping colors of high definition but the grain and depth of field that makes film so beautiful. Audiences will be blown away by how gorgeous this film is."

Through Shelter's association with ElstonRoss, Audio X has given the project their stamp of approval by making it the first feature film to utilize their revolutionary new sound technology. This pioneering approach to sound is predicted by many industry experts to eventually be the new standard in delivering audio in all media formats.

With principal photography wrapping up August 20th and post-production already under-way, Three Blind Artists Entertainment Group plans to premiere Shelter at the 2007 Sundance Film Festival in January.

Two Projects Postponed for One Ambitious Feature

Both Public Access and In A Parallel Universe have been pushed back for the bold ensemble drama Shelter, which will be written and directed by Chris Elston and is currently scheduled to begin principal photography in March of 2006.

Elston Writing Third Feature by Hire

08-28-2005

TBA's Chris Elston has recently been hired to adapt the historical drama Franca's Story from the book by Diane Kinman (www.wimerpublishing.com). Franca's Story tells the true story of a privileged young girl who is determined to help her family survive the horrors of World War II in Italy. Elston's current writing assignment comes on the heels of the original horror/thriller feature Death Bed for Dark Alley Films and the update of the 1984 horror/sci-fi/thriller Night Shadows for RMG1.

Three Blind Artists Heads In New Direction

04-26-2005

In a significant departure from short films, TBA is currently in various stages of development and pre-production on an ambitious slate of feature film and scripted television projects. TBA's new direction includes the development of a new website, final negotiations for the funding of its first sit-com pilot, Public Access, and the ramping up of a production schedule that includes its first feature, In a Parallel Universe, scheduled to shoot this summer.

Public Access revolves around Craig, the head production coordinator for Los Angeles County's public access television outlet. He is practically driven crazy by his wacky but loveable employees, the total wack-jobs who have shows on this cable channel, and the even bigger lunatics who want to air their programs. In a Parallel Universe is a drama about two twenty-somethings who leave a life-time of hardships behind in a quest for what they think life could have been like had they been born into different circumstances.

Both projects will be shot with economics as a priority in order to maximize the investment return for everyone involved. They will most likely include a partnership with Focal Point Production & Post. Focal Point's key players include TBA's Chris Elston and veteran television editor, camera operator, and entrepreneur Don Hauk. Focal Point will be able to provide much of the production and post-production equipment needed to complete the process on budget.
